General Diterix (1874-1937) was the elected regent of the Far East and voevoda of the local army at the Zemstvo Council in summer 1922. The General along with N.A. Sokolov (1882-1924), a Russian lawyer, investigated the murder of the Tsar’s family in Ekaterinburg, and completed a thorough investigation and an inspection of the burial site (“Four mines”) by the time the Red Army reentered the territory. This book was extremely popular in Russia. It is not only examining all the circumstances of the death, but also analyzes the responsibility of Russian society and people for this crime. The real tragedy was that the Russian people violated its vow to the monarch given in 1613.
