This is a book of memoirs of the great Russian actress Alisa Koonen (d. 1974), a pupil of Stanislavskii and Nemirovich-Danchenko, the star of the Kamernyi Teatr (1914-1950) led by Aleksadr Tairov (1887-1950), her husband and her artistic director. Tairov died soon after his theater was closed by soviet authorities. This memoir tells of the Kamernyi Theater and their productions through the eyes of Koonen.
