Talbot worked for Time magazine for 21 years, joined the state department as a special advisor on the postsoviet space, worked as assistant to the Secretary of State in 1994-2001, and the director of Brookings Institute since 2002. M. Beschloss is the author of several books on the history of Soviet-American relations. This book is about what the G.H.W. Bush administration`s policy towards Russia was, and in particular about Bush’s relationship with Gorbachev. As reader will see, the Russian title does not reflect the real content of the book.
