This book includes twenty texts written between 1993 and 1996 upon the author`s return after a two year sojourn in the West to a new Russia. These are the reflections of a philosopher with a personal interest in art. The first part discusses the role conceptual art began to play in the mutating context and qualifies pragmatism as an offspring of heroism, i.e. commercial packaging of a hero. Among the artists whose works the book analyzes are O. Kulik, Afrika, Iu. Kalendarev, I. Mukhin, E. Elagina.
