This is the first publication of the memoirs and diary of the Russian statesman Iakov Glinka (1870-1950). He was head of the Duma`s office and played a significant role in all four pre-revolutionary Dumas. In the soviet period, he wisely left his legal and political career and became a theater set painter. The reader will find portraits of many leading political figures of pre-revolutionary Russia in this book. Supplements include some his reports. The compiler and editor of the book B. Vitenberg provided the book with an extensive biographical dictionary of the people mentioned in the Glinka`s memoirs (pp. 307-384).
