This book embraces three works about the steppe empires by a well known historian. The first one is about the Mongol empire of the 13th century. The second one covers Mongol and the later Turkicized khanate, the Golden Horde in the 13th-14th centuries. The last one deals with the Large Horde of the 15th century, a powerful state of Eastern Europe, the Nogai Horde which inherited its nomadic civilization from Kipchak Khaganate and the Golden Horde which dissolved by the 15th century.
