Sergei Khachaturov is an art critic, historian and assistant professor of history of national art at Moscow State University. This book can be referred to the genre of adventure-study or research-adventure. In contrast to the traditional dating of romanticism (first half of the 19th century), the author asserts that in the Baroque era and the Enlightenment the "romantic" (more exactly "novelistic") was largely derived from the culture of the literary novel, inspired by intricate turns of themes and subjects. 16 illustrations.
