This book is about the August Coup, an attempt to overthrow the Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev in 1991. The coup leaders were hard-line members of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union who were opposed to Gorbachev`s reform program and the new union treaty. Dmitrii Iazov (b. 1924), the minister of defense, was one the coup leaders. The publication is based on the author’s personal archives and diaries. (0.235 kg.)
