Based on documents from the OGPU archive (minutes of interrogations) this book shows that the hidden motive of Stalin`s repressions was economic rather than political. All arrested high ranking officials, in these documents, were rather corrupt people than foreign agents. According to the author the party nomenklatura preferred to plead guilty to espionage rather than admit to theft or taking bribes. This book is mostly about Genrikh Iagoda, his circle and their crimes as they were presented in official documents. It is openly anti-Semitic.
