This is the second book of the first volume of collected works of the notable Russian historian and philologist Aleksei Shakmatov (1864-1920) on the history of Russian chronicles. After many years of research and comparison of old versions, he found the original versions for many of the chronicles, restored their order and the interconnection of the main steps of the chroniclers` work up to the 16th century. The book is not a completely academic one, but is rather addressed to a wider audience. However it has comments and indices. This work is planned to be published in two volumes. Comments. Indices.
