Nikolai Timofeev-Resovskii (1900-1981), Russian biologist, was a legendary figure in the history of Russian science, particularly in the history of genetics. Though he was one of the best biologists of the 20th century, his role in Russian science can not be reduced to his professional achievements, because he also had a great encouraging influence on several generations of Russian scientists. This book was compiled by his pupils who kept records of his public speeches on the history of genetics, biology, and Russian science in general, given in Obninsk, the academic center of nuclear physics studies in 1974-1978.
