Alexander the Second (1818-1881) brought a number of positive changes into Russian life, the biggest of them was the grand peasant reform of 1861, or the liberation of the serfs. He also started military and court reforms, annexed some territories of the northern Caucasus, Kazakhstan, and a significant part of Central Asia. The second documentary novel was written by one of the leaders of the White Movement, the Atman Petr Krasnov (1869-1947).
