Iakovlev, N. N. (Nikolai Nikolaevich)
1 Avgusta 1914
[ August First 1914]

Moscow:  EKSMO, 2003
351 p
Hardcover. 13 x 20.5 cm
ISBN: 5699015744
Language: Russian
The first publication (1974) of this study by Nikolai Iakovlev (1927-1996) became a sensation because it offered a new interpretation of the Russian involvement in WWI, and the origins of the February and October revolutions of 1917. Though the author wrote this book by direct order and with research support from the soviet propaganda department of the KGB in opposition to Solzhenitsyn`s work on the same subject, it turned out to be a solid academic work and a new revelation which Communist ideologues did not expect. According to Iakovlev, the February revolution against the Russian autocracy was masterminded by Russian masons. Afterword on the history of the first publication by Russian historian Sergei Semanov.
