The denunciation by Kerenskii of General Kornilov, the commander-in-chief of the Russian army in 1917, was, according to the author of this book, the fatal blow to the military spirit of the army. The Russian emigre historian Georgii Katkov (1903-1985), wrote the history of the Kornilov affair or the so called Kornilov mutiny (August 25th - 31st, 1917) based on evidence he collected in Western archives and the Russian press. This book was first published in English (1967), then translated into Russian (1997). This is the second corrected edition of this book. The previous, fourth volume of the series, Katkov`s The February Revolution is also available.
