Viktor Shklovskii (1893-1984), a writer and literary critic, was also known as one of the founders of OPOIAZ (Obshchestvo Izucheniie Teorii Poeticheskogo Iazyka). This book includes three of his early autobiographical works: Sentimental`noe Puteshestvie, Zoo, ili Pis`ma ne o Liubvi, Tret`ia Fabrika. The first work starts with the February revolution of 1917. Shklovskii did not accept the next Bolshevik revolution and joined the anti-soviet EsEr plot. The Sentimental Journey and the two other stories describe his participation in the civil war, his emigration to Berlin in 1922, and literary life in Russia in 1910-1920s.
