This analytical report is a product of a research project undertaken by the Russian Foundation “Informatics for Democracy". The main mission of the Foundation is to promote democratic elections in Russia, provide public control over political elections in all regions of Russia with help of their experts and correspondents, and to inform Russian society about election results and violations of election laws via the Internet. The current report covers the results of presidential and parliament elections in 1999-2000. The report also discusses the legal basis of the participation of mass media in elections and analysis of this participation.
