Language: RussianNikolai Biulev, physician to the Russian Tsar Vasilli III, wrote the manuscript Blagoprokhladnyi Vertograd (Garden of Health) in 1534, which was based on the German botanical encyclopedia by Ioann von Kube and other sources. This manuscript was in fact the very first Russian medical encyclopedia. Later handwritten copies of this book, with the addition of new chapters, were a very popular source of medical knowledge in Russia up to the 17th century. This is the first publication of this manuscript (called the Filagrii manuscript) housed in the Russian State Library. Dictionary of obsolete words and old Russian names for plants.
