Methods of studying territorial and social dialects

This ninth volume of Dialectologia Slavica published by the Institut Slavianovedeniia i Balkanistiki RAN deals with methods of studying territorially and socially limited dialects. The development of linguistic geography and descriptive dialectology at the end of the 20th century was to a large extent determined by the application of new methods of obtaining research data and its interpretation. These are: use of computers for the purpose of typological classification of large collections of dialects; use of experimental phonetics for description of the synchronic state of dialect systems; exposure of socio-linguistic parameters of territorially limited idioms, etc. Among the contributors to this book are: N.
