Vladimir Khazan (b. 1952), professor of Russian literature at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, has lived in Israel since 1992. This book is about the Russian-Jewish literary ties and dialog in the twentieth century. He shows how the Russian and Jewish cultures enriched each other in this dialog. Works of different genres are combined in this books: from academic articles to current writing. Among the heroes of his essays are: I. Babel`, K. Bal`mont, G. Boklevskii, I. Bunin, S. Esenin, David Knut (whose line is used as title of the book), O. Mandel`shtam, and many more.
