A. Mikhailovskii was head of the St. Petersburg navy base and later the chief commander of the Northern Fleet. Two previous books in this series are also available: Rabochaia Glubina (the story of the construction and use of Russian atomic submarines in the 1960`s-1970`s) and Vertikal`noe Vsplytie (covers the next period (1970s-1980s) in the history of the next generation of Russian atomic submarines, which was intended to provide military parity between Russia and NATO).
