This book by the Russian philosopher and writer Vasilii Rozanov is about the lives and works of two little known Russian literary critics: N.N. Strakhov (1828-1896) and Iu.N. Govorukha-Otrok (1850-1896). Rozanov called N. Strakhov his god-father. He was a philosopher, biologist, literary critic and journalist in one person. Iurii Govorukha-Otrok was in Rozanov`s opinion the best journalist of the 1880-90s. The book includes correspondence between V. Rozanov and N. Strakhov, V. Rozanov and K. Leont`ev. Strakhov`s and Leont`ev`s letters are accompanied with Rozanov`s comments. This is a reprint of a book first published in 1913. Comments. Name index.
