From the beginning of the forced collectivization of the agrarian sector in the 1930s, new collective farms and supporting technical stations were controlled by the soviet government and political organs through a special emergency department: Politotdel. This monograph studies the reasons and the eight year history of these organs (1933-1940): their oppressive mission; uniting party and government bodies; human resource functions; repressive actions in the villages; political and administrative activities, reasons for their liquidation in April of 1940. The author analyzed the work of about 500 politotdels in Western Siberia in the 1930s. Bibliographic references.
