This is a monograph on one of the most complicated and discussed periods of Ancient Russian history. The author presents his method of macrotextological comparative analysis of sources, grouping them by their political partiality, comparing dates, personal and geographical names and plots. The texts are divided into several groups: Written in the Time of Troubles; Originated immediately after the events and created for expressing an official concept; Inspired by Patriarch Filaret; Included in the special research “Novyi Letopisets” (New Chronicle). The author gives a detailed analysis of the sources, of their origins, wordings and versions, and comes with a new more correct chronology of the sources and their interdependence. Bibliographical references. Name index. Abbreviation index.
