This monograph deals with chronicles of city of Great Novgorod from its beginning until its loss of independence in 1478. The author analyzes the chronicles in the context of the city’s political and cultural development; identifies their authorship and connections with monastic centers. Bobrov found that most chronicles, with some exceptions, were the result of collective work of chroniclers editors, and made several corrections in the history of chronicle writing.
