This is a new edition of the political biography of Andropov (1914-1984), the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU (1982-84) and KGB chief from 1967-82, called by the author "the last Bolshevik". Igor` Sinitsyn was Andropov`s assistant in the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1973-1979. Like his boss, Sinitsyn worked as diplomat, "partapparatchik", and KGB officer most of his life.
