William Christian Bullitt (1891-1967) was the American envoy to revolutionary Russia and later the first American ambassador to Russia after America recognized her in 1933. The book is a documentary biography of an extraordinary man who shaped not only the American policy towards Russia for several years, but also had a great influence on Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
