The life of Andrew Fool for Christ, an old Byzantine manuscript, was extremely popular in Byzantium and other countries of the Orthodox religion. It exists in more than one hundred different versions and one of them was translated into Russian in the 11th-early 12th century. This text played an important role in the Russian Orthodox Church, and affected the decision to establish the feast of the Protection of the Virgin. This is the first translation from Greek to modern Russian of the version housed in Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Munchen). The original text in Greek is also included. Comments.
