This book is a collection of works in the ethnology and history of Mongol and Buryat peoples by the Russian orientalist Dordzhi Banzarov (1822-1855). One of these works, Black Faith, is about the ancient Mongol religion adopted by Buryat pagans in the 19th century. Also included is an essay about the life and works of Banzarov who was the first Buryat with a European education, the student of O.M. Kovalevskii.
