This is an academic publication of two monuments of Old Russian Literature (the 17th century) in the genre of Lives of the Fathers. The Kiev-Pechora patericon is the best known Russian manuscript of this genre. It is known in ten different editions and about 200 handwritten copies. The Volokolamskii manuscript is a collection of lives of the Saints from the Josephist school of Russian monks, first about Joseph from Volotskoe himself, his teacher Pafnutii from Borovskoe and their pupils and followers. This book includes the two manuscripts in Old Russian, their translations into modern Russian, supplements and different versions of the manuscripts, commentary and history of the manuscripts.
