Ivan Dziuba (b. 1931), a Ukrainian literary critic, social activist, dissident, Hero of Ukraine, academic of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the second Minister of Culture of Ukraine (1992—1994), Head of the Committee for the Shevchenko National Prize (1999–2001). For his work Internationalism or Russification? (London, 1968, and "Motherland" magazine (ukr. "????????"), 1990, No. 5-7), he was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 5 years in exile.
