This book describes the changes that have happened in various regions of Russia, city agglomerations, and other cities in the last two decades: institutions of the local authorities, structure of small business, social networks, including ethnic ones, non-material assets and positive externalities. The authors offer a new language and new approach to the study of "small" spaces called "endogenous". They also suggest to reinterpret the three main categories used in Russian regional studies, economico-geographic location, territorial structure, economic region, in favor of categories of endogenous approach and methods of study.
