The author of this book worked in the system of National Security (KGB) for 45 years, making a career from soldier in SMERSh to first vice-chairman of KGB. The book is about his work which dealt with dissidents and independent thinkers. Filipp Bobkov(b. 1925) later worked for Russian oligarch V. Gusinskii but this part of his life is not covered in the book. The book is illustrated with examples of their work. Like most books about the KGB, this one is based on a conspiracy theory.
