This is the history of the last days of the Russian Empire and the house of Romanov compiled by the Russian poet Aleksandr Blok, based on unpublished documents collected by the Extraordinary Commission appointed by the Interim government. It was first published in the periodical "Byloe" (1919), then as a book in 1921. Appendices include: a letter of Grand Duke Aleksandr Mikhailovich to Nicholas the Second; a note prepared in the circle of Rimskii-Korsakov; written testimony of N. Maklakov; meeting of the members of the progressive faction with Protopopov; report of M.V. Rodzianko, diaries of A. Blok. Some of the materials are published without abridgement for the first time.
