The author is a researcher at the Moscow Pushkin Museum. This biographical dictionary of the Pushkin epoch is different from other similar books due to the particular choice of characters, some of whom do not usually come to the attention of other writers, though those very characters largely defined the image of Pushkin`s period. Their lives are often just as fascinating as those of literary creations. The pieces were prepared for short radio broadcasts, and were later edited for this publication.
