Working out of indicators of measuring the quality of life of indigenous nations of the north of the Sakhalin Oblast is developing a toolkit for the analysis of these people`s status on the basis of the official statistics, surveys and expert interviews. Research on the quality of life will facilitate establishment of a database about all aboriginals of the area and will not only present a picture of their social, economic, legal and cultural status, but also show the level of their well-being under the conditions of the market economy. The research was carried out on the basis of analysis of international experience, first of all in the frameworks of the UN with adjustment for the present situation in Sakhalin Oblast.
