This study covers a more than a half century period. The author focuses on the demographic history of the family in the agrarian sector in Russia: structure of the family, divorces, reproductive behavior, family separation, status of women and children, etc. The monograph singles out the two main periods in development of the rural family: traditional (the end of the 19th century-1920), and the family in transition from traditional to modern (1929-1959).
