This five-volume publication are the stenographic records of the VCP(b) plenums (1928-1929). Vol. 1, ISBN 5856460650, includes materials of the Joint session of the VCP(b) Central Committee and the Central Control Commission held in April 1928. This plenum marks the beginning of the struggle between Stalin’s group against “the right opposition”, A. Rykov, N. Bukharin, M. Tomsky, over the key issues of the internal policy of the Soviet Union: relations between the state and the peasantry and the fate of the new economic policy (N.E.P.) in general. The “Shakhtinskoe case” was specifically discussed by the Plenum which to be proved to be a call for new mass repressions. Vol. 2, ISBN 5856460650, include important additional documents, such as versions of resolution prepared by N. Bukharin, the original unedited record of Stalin’s speech, etc. These documents reflect the struggle among the party leaders over the future of the N.E.P. The Plenum, convened soon after the Moscow Party leaders, supporters of the Rykov-Bukharin group, had been routed, was an important victory for Stalin and his followers. Vol. 4, ISBN 585646060715. Vol. 5, ISBN 5856460723
