General Iurii Danilov (1866-1937) served as the main strategist in the Russian General Staff in the last days of the Russian monarchy. He was responsible for developing the strategy of preparing for World War I. Danilov was also involved in making very important political decisions. These are his memoirs about the events preceding the fall of the Russian monarchy, written in emigration. He also wrote the well known fundamental monograph "Russia in the World War of 1914-1915", one of the most authoritative works on the subject.
