This is a fundamental monograph about the prominent Russian publisher and journalist A. S. Suvorin (1834-1912), who was the editor of the most influential conservative newspaper “Novoe Vremia”. The research, based on rich archival materials and published sources, presents a detailed biography of this controversial personage of the Russian editorial world. The author analyzes Suvorin’s activity as a pro-government publicist located on the right wing of public opinion, and as editor of books for democratic people, investigates his complicated relations with Russian writers (L.
