Since 1989 Panorama of Russia has specialized in academic and reference publications from the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
This is a biography of Kazemir Malevich (1878-1935), a founder of the Russian avant-garde, a talented, paradoxical, and controversial figure. He never trusted the soviet totalitarian state. When he left Russia for his exhibition in Berlin, he took all his works with him. The Bolsheviks did not allow him to stay there until the end of the show and called him back. Malevich left all the paintings behind. His presentiment did not fail him: he was arrested as soon as he arrived. This book is rather a literary than documented biography, but it reflects the artistic nature of its subject. 46 black-and-white and 132 color illustrations.
