This work of the famous historian was published for the first time in 1923. He describes the literary image, talent and creative work of Saint Nestor the Chronicler, who was the reputed author of the Primary Chronicle, (the earliest East Slavic chronicle), the Life of the Venerable Theodosius of the Kiev Caves, the Life of the Holy Passion Bearers, Boris and Gleb, and of the so-called Reading. An introduction about M. Priselkov (1881-1941) is by A.Iu. Dvornichenko.
