This monograph deals with the history of the sign of the cross, and it is intended to answer the question: how should one cross oneself – with two or three fingers? It contains a theological and historical analysis of the sign of the cross which concludes that the three-finger crossing is not heretical, however the unity of the Russian Orthodox Church could be restored only through a return to two-finger crossing.
