This monograph describes the relations between the people and the princes in Old Russia and peculiarities of the Old Russian popular assembly (veche). It is based on the chronicles of the XIth – XIIIth centuries, hagiographical texts and selected books of Holy Scripture. Tat`iana Vilkul, a scholar at the Institute of the Ukrainian History, also analyzes the specific characteristics of "social" terminology of chronicles of the XI-XIII centuries.
