From its very beginning the magazine is a good source of information about and a guide into a world of contemporary Russian literature and the arts. It contains original works by contemporary Russian authors, as well as review of books, magazines, films, and art exhibitions. In the first two issues appeared previously unpublished works of B. Strugatsky, A. Kushner, L. Zhukovitsky, L. Anninskii, I. Pomerantsev, I. Irten`ev, I. Guberman, D.A. Prigov, A. Genis, and V. P`etsukh. In this year’s future issues readers will meet with D. Granin, V. Dolina, T. Kibirov, Iu. Kim, N. Korzhavin, N. Matveeva, M. Pavich, Pelevin, V. Popov, D. Rubina, N. Sadur, G. Sapgir, T. Tolstaia, and many others. Kontrapunkt has taken upon itself the goal of bridging the gap between literature in Russia and the Diaspora.Ceased in 2000. The first three issues are available for $8.00 each. $21 for three issues
