This book is the first academic publication of Russian soldier folklore. It is based on the collection "Boian" compiled by Andrei Broido, Dzhana Kut`ina and Iakov Broido and includes 1,100 written and oral songs, poems, aphorisms of the soviet and the Russian army. This folklore was collected in 1970-1990s. All materials are provided with introductions, comments, glossary and indices.
