One of the goals of this monograph is to clarify the notion of the Gothic novel genre canon that has been formed in the "classical" period, which lasted approximately half a century, and its most significant varieties. Moreover, the contributors to this collection aim to follow the evolution of this genre tradition in Russian literature of the 19th century (Marlinskii, Pushkin, Gogol`, A.K.
