The Mongolian Chingis (Genghis) Khan (1162-1227), conqueror of China and most of the Muslim world, is known not only for his military art, marches and wars, but also as the creator a new effective government, which had a special influence on the early Russian state. This volume is the first translation into Russian of a collection of historical and literary monuments from Mongolia and other countries (12-17th centuries). The main manuscript "Sokrovennoe Skazanie Mongolov" in this volume is the source for many chronicles, legends, epic stories, etc. Also included are several other sources on Chingis and a chronology of his life. Every chapter is provided with an introduction and comments.
