This is the second volume of a collective investigation of the soviet scientific society of physicists in the 1950-1960s This period was the so called "golden age" of soviet physics. More than 100,000 physicists were working then in different scientific and industrial organizations. Nearly a dozen of them were awarded Nobel Prizes. The first part of this book offers a general historical analysis of the scientific society`s life and contains 43 biographical sketches of the most outstanding physicists.
