This volume includes previously unpublished, little known and mostly forgotten documents related to the activities Aleksandr Iakovlev (1923-2005), an architect of perestroika and a passionate defender of human rights and political freedom, the leader of the Russian Party of Social Democracy (created in 1995) and the president of the international foundation "Democracy". Many of the documents included in this collection are being published for the first time. They show the evolution of A.
