This monograph studies the gender segregation of employment from the soviet time to the present, its causes and consequences. The authors compare the Russian situation in this aspect with the international situation. Basing on analysis of Russian statistical data, Mal`tseva and Roshchin estimate the intensity and directions of labor mobility by gender, influence of mobility on gender differences in salary and segregation. One of the axes of this analysis is the vertical segregation and problem of "the glass ceiling" in the Russian economy.
